Back to Basics IC10893 1-1/2-Quart Ice-Cream Maker
Customer Reviews
This machine simply put, does not work. After freezing the bowl I put the mixture in, it stirred for more than an hour but nothing happened. I think the gel in the bowl itself does not stay frozen long enough for the mixture to freeze. I even put the running machine back into the freezer for an hour to see if that would help, but to no avail. This product is a dud. Thankfully, I didn't have to waste my cream mixture since I have my old plastic Rival model as a back-up. It's so loud I have to run it in the basement sitting on a couple of folded towels to try to muffle the noise. The auto shut-off feature no longer works either BUT, it still actually makes ice cream, something this Back to Basics model did not do. I'm still on the hunt for a model that does not need a bag of ice and rock salt that is also reasonably priced. This isn't it. The Back to Basics line was bought out by West Bend Products, I wonder if they know what a lousy machine this is.
My boyfriend and I had a horrible experience with this ice cream maker. After following the manufacturer's guide step by step all we got was cold stirred milk every time. Thank god for defective return policy. I wouldn't recommend at all.
